Where is the Art Show held?

The Camberwell Centre, Camberwell Road, Camberwell Victoria,
Australia. The Centre is located next to the old Town Hall, set back from the
road in a beautiful garden setting. The Centre is less than one kilometre from
Camberwell Junction.

What are the opening dates?

Friday April 24th to Saturday May 2nd 2009. The show is open 10am to 6pm daily except 5pm on Saturday May 2nd.

Where does the money go?

Proceeds of the show are dedicated to the charitable and community works
of the Rotary Club of Camberwell. The Show is the Club's major source of
funding. Over the four decades of the life of this great Show, millions of
dollars have been directed to commendable and worthy causes both within
the local Community, nationally and overseas.


Artists Queries

Who are the judges?

The show has always enjoyed the services of distinguished judges. Judges
for the 2009 Art Show are yet to be appointed. Check back later for the names of the judges for the Show.

What will it cost me to enter paintings?

A handling fee is required to be paid, the netry fee for 2008 was $22 (includes GST) per painting for up to six works. (Refer to the conditions on the entry form.)

Size restrictions of paintings?

The only restriction on the size of all paintings entered is that no length of any
side of a painting shall exceed 1.40 metres long including framing. All
measurements will be taken over the frame. Paintings will be checked on
delivery, oversize paintings will not be hung.

Framing requirements?

The conditions relating to Framing have changed, stretched canvas is considered to be framed, and must have rigid and adequate cross members. Each work must be fitted with
substantial hanging wire or heavy-duty cord and 'flush D hangers'

Non-acceptable Work?

Works of beaten metal, photographs, digitally enhanced artwork, 'worked'
prints, prints including linocuts, mono-prints, stencils, etc., etchings,
pokerwork, pyrography, textile art works, bark arrangements, plaster relief
work, unprotected tempera, collages, triptychs and diptychs or wet
paintings, are not acceptable.

Painting delivery times?

Receipt of entered paintings to be delivered personally will occur on either
Friday 17th or Saturday 18th April between 10am and 6pm. Paintings are to
be delivered to the Parkview Theatre, Camberwell Centre, 340 Camberwell
Road, Camberwell.

Painting collection times?

Unsold paintings are to be collected personally between 8.30 am and 6pm on
Sunday May 3rd from the Parkview Theatre, Camberwell Centre, 340
Camberwell Road, Camberwell.
Please note - Sunday only.

Any penalty for late collection?

The Rotary Club of Camberwell has no permanent storage after the show
closes, so we are seriously affected if paintings are not collected before
6pm on the Saturday. Late collections will be liable for additional handling
fee of $20 per painting.

Non-exhibited Works?

Paintings not exhibited may be collected during the show by prior
arrangement. Phone the Art Show telephone number (03) 9882 0229.
Note - Works cannot be collected between 1pm Saturday 2nd May and
8.30am Sunday 3rd May due to preparations to close the show.

Are freighted entries accepted?

The Club no longer handles freighted or posted works; paintings must be
delivered and picked up free of cardboard or other rigid packaging, although
a loose sleeve or one layer of bubble wrap is acceptable.

Courier delivery and collection?

All paintings to be delivered by Courier shall be consigned to the
Camberwell Centre, 340 Camberwell Rd, Camberwell, to arrive at the latest
by Saturday 18th April 2008. All costs are to be paid by the artist.

Is a return freight service provided?

No. A return freight service is no longer provided; artists who cannot deliver
and pick up in person or by proxy must use a specialist courier service that
provides their own protective layer.
The Club has listed couriers who cover specific areas in the Newsletter.

How to get the Newsletter?

Apply by post to PO Box 178 Canterbury, Vic 3126 or download from
Website.

When do entries close?

All entry forms must be received by March 27th 2008.

How do I enter?

Entries must be received on the official entry form; copies may be obtained
in the following ways:

1) Download form in Acrobat .pdf format from our Website.
2) Contact us by email to receive a form by post.
3) Write to P.O. Box 178, Canterbury, Victoria, 3126, Australia.

Sections "A", "Personal" and "Artists & GST" must be completed and
submitted by 27th March 2009. The handling fee must be sent with the returned
entry form.
Post entries with remittance to P.O. Box 178, Canterbury, Victoria 3126,
Australia.

Insurance?

The Club will exercise all reasonable care in handling the works submitted,
but will not be responsible for the loss of or any damage to any works while
in the custody of the Club or the Club's agents.
Artists are responsible for insuring their works against loss or damage when
in custody of the Club or in transit.

Commission on sold paintings?

The Club will offer any entry for sale to the public at the price nominated on
the entry form and in the event of the sale being made; the Club will retain
twenty-seven and half per centum [ 27 1/2 % ] of the price as a selling
commission. The commission includes a GST component payable by all
entrants.

Payments for sold paintings?

Payments to Artists for sold paintings can be made either by cheque or by
direct electronic transfer to a nominated bank account. Refer to the entry
form and Newsletter for further details.


Patrons Queries

What will it cost me?

Admission cost for 2008 was $12 (including GST). Concessions apply. A season ticket
is also available.

Demonstrating Artists?

A programme of Demonstrating Artists will be provided again this year on all
days the Show is open. The programme will cover all mediums.
The details of the artists participating and the programme will be finalized
closer to the Show. Check back on this site later for up to date details.

Preview Function?

A Pre-View Cocktail Launch Function will be held on Thursday 23rd April at the
Camberwell Centre at which the major award winners will be announced and
provides to the guests at the function the ability to have first opportunity to
purchase any paintings on show.
