The Herald Sun Camberwell Rotary Art Show 2008

The 2008 Art Show took place in April at the traditional venue - The Camberwell Centre, next to the old Town Hall, Camberwell Road, Camberwell (Melway Page 59 2J)

It was again a Great Success with the standards of the entries equal if not higher than previous years.

Thanks goes to all the Artists who entered paintings, Patrons who came, saw and hopefully were impressed enough to buy and our Sponsors who all contribute to the Art Show.

The Planning for the 2009 Show has started.

About our great Show

Ranked among the largest traditional competitions,
displays and sales of paintings in the Southern
Hemisphere, and one of the largest art shows in the
world, this annual event is much more than "mere" fund
raising for Rotary community works.

Begun as a modest community event in 1964, the
founders had a multi faceted vision. They sought to
encourage both established and emerging artists who
painted in the traditional style. They believed this
community ambition could be fulfilled while providing a
valuable event for the City of Camberwell, (now called
Boroondara). Such an event, carefully nurtured and
managed, could grow to become a major source of
funding for community needs serviced by the Rotary
Club of Camberwell.

Now in its fifth decade, history shows that the
show has fulfilled its mission, and it continues to
grow from strength to strength.
